How to enjoy a couple of days

As of March 1st, if you’re in Australia and have a brilliant book shop near by, they will have a book called BURN BRIGHT on the shelves. Grab a copy. It’s a great way to spend a couple of days.

This book is like a twist of lemon in a plain old glass of lemonade on a hot summers day. Juicy and just the right amount of ahhh.

There are SO many books out there for the YA audiences and quite few authors are making a point to get darker, to get scarier, to get ‘gothic’  in their books. Marianne has achieved the darkness, the spooky factor and the gothic element without the sugary after taste of artificial sweetness.

Retra misses her brother dearly, so boards a barge to Ixion to reconnect and possibly bring him home. However when she arrives and is registered on the island of ever-night,  her life is changed forever. She must hold onto her ethics to find Joel, and release her fears to survive. Pleasure is the name of the game, but pleasure for whom?

What on earth is lurking in the dark beyond the well lit paths? Where do the older ones go? Who is whispering to her from the shadows?

Retra is thrown so far out of her comfort zone it’ll make her head spin, but I assure you, you’ll be right along side her in this beautifully written book.

If you liked Labyrinth, you’ll enjoy Burn Bright.
