Sad day for us spider watchers

We found something sad this afternoon, but it’s nature so we have to just let it be.

Hubby called me out into the yard to see what he thought was the golden orb weaver from the photo blog earlier in the week eating a wasp… but as you can see, the wasp was fine.

So what on earth is a wasp going to do with a monster like that spider was.

RIP Spider. We’ll miss seeing you in your pretty web.

Hi love, the spider is stunned by the wasp (ie still alive but in suspended animation) and stays there in the nest as food for the wasp larvae. A bit gruesome but that’s just the way it is – fresh food.
